Weezer - "Say It Ain’t So" - Take 2.. (from "1192 Mix", 2026)

Weezer’s ’1192’ Remix Version is an official release featuring newly remixed and mastered analog recordings of the band’s first studio demo sessions from November 1992, which originally helped them secure their record deal for the Blue Album.

This release came to fruition after the band's founding member and original bassist, Matt Sharp, discovered the long-lost original 2-inch multi-track master tape reels in his storage archive.

1. Key Features & Sound

• Pure Analog Workflow: To honor the band's original sonic intent, the project bypassed all digital processing (such as Pro Tools or digital mastering). It was produced using a 100% all-analog workflow, from the original tapes directly to vinyl.

• The Raw Energy of the Original Lineup: It features the raw, unpolished power of Weezer's earliest lineup. Along with Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, and Matt Sharp, it includes the driving rhythm guitar work of original guitarist Jason Cropper, who left the band just before the Blue Album was officially released.

• Sonic Changes: Fans will notice significantly richer, punchier snare drum tones extracted from the original 1992 source tapes, alongside previously unreleased alternate takes and intimate acoustic mixes.

2. Production & Release Details

• The Creative Team: The album was produced by Matt Sharp and mixed by the legendary music producer and engineer Joe Chiccarelli.

• Release Format: It was initially released as a limited edition Grey Vinyl for Record Store Day (RSD 2026) on April 18, 2026. Following the RSD launch, it became widely available on standard vinyl, CD, cassette, and digital streaming platforms.

• Record Label: Released via Ernest Jenning Record Co.
